Estate Kennels was registered with the Canadian Kennel Club in 1983, though my love and involvement with dogs started long before. I have been involved with the Dalmatian for over 30 years and the German Shorthaired Pointer for 20 years. We live on a small acreage in Langley, B.C., which is set up for the dogs. All the dogs are house raised and trained and are highly socialized members of the family.

Our show dogs are our house pets...

We acquired our first German Shorthaired Pointer when attending an all breed show in Eugene, Oregon, in 1984. While showing the Dalmatians I fell in love with a four month old female Shorthaired puppy brought to the show for socializing and training. The owners had bought her from the Leiblinghaus Kennel in the New York area, and agreed to sell her. "Belle" was our introduction to the breed, obtaining her Canadian titles, teaching us much about breed specifics and bossing around the Dalmatians.

While attending further shows in our area I had the good fortune to meet Karen Ibbitson of Malhaven Kennels, Alberta, Canada. I was so impressed with both her male specials, Am. Can. Ch. Malhaven Twentieth Century Ltd. and his daughter, Ch. Clonaslee's Just a Jewel. Over the years we have acquired a few German Shorthaired Pointers from Karen, showing them to their titles, doing a little field work, but mostly enjoying them as fun companions.

During the 20 years of involvement with the German Shorthaired breed we have only bred two litters as we feel only the all around dogs should be bred. We strive to only breed excellent temperament, quality structure and those exhibiting the breed's natural instincts. Positive assets as well as faults are evaluated on each dog we have chosen to use in our breeding program. Puppies are raised in our house and are carefully socialized, exposing them to may sights, sounds and experiences to help them become happy, stable members of their new families. We are always available to answer questions or concerns for as long as you own one of our dogs. If we don't know the answer, we try to find one.

Our current Shorthaired is Canadian, International Champion Malhaven Estate We Be Talkin. "Rumor", as she is known, won easily in the show ring and is pointed towards her American titles. As a puppy she went Reserve Winners Female at the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Washington Specialty. Her temperament is second to none!
